These avatars sure are something awful!

I was browsing around the random bits and bytes clogging my hard drive when I stumbled upon an ancient collection of lost art! All right, by "ancient" I mean one or two years old, and by "art" I mean mediocre, tasteless scribblings.

Where'd they come from? Why do they exist? Excellent questions, all! And I have some answers, though their excellence most likely pales in comparison to that of the questions: sometimes people at the Something Awful forums like to put little pictures next to their names when they post, and sometimes, I like to draw those little pictures. (Which can be no larger than 125x125 pixels and must be less than 30K.)

Hey, we’ve got a theme!

Sorta. If I'm honest, all I did was what I always do: I canibalized an existing theme and forced it to obey my whims! It's more or less complete; fairly minimal, but hopefully easy enough to use. And when I get bored with it in seven or eight minutes, I can create a new one and start all over again! That's what I do on the interwebz -- I create half-finished WP themes and whine about them.

I should branch out.

Also, if you're looking at this in Internet Explorer, you'll see some horrible, horrible things, like PNGs that aren't correctly rendered, and styles that are more or less ignored. Cheese it, IE!

Forget it

Once I had this grandiose plan to write my own "blogging system."

I wrote a handful of scripts that might have -- just might have -- worked, but because I have a bad habit of failing to follow through with far too many undertakings (e.g., said "blogging system," which shall always be mockingly referenced with "finger quotes"), those scripts will never see the light of day.
