Forget it

Once I had this grandiose plan to write my own "blogging system."

I wrote a handful of scripts that might have -- just might have -- worked, but because I have a bad habit of failing to follow through with far too many undertakings (e.g., said "blogging system," which shall always be mockingly referenced with "finger quotes"), those scripts will never see the light of day.

So here I am with WordPress (WP) again. The next step is to create a theme, which, as even a casual dabbler into the mind-devouring horrors of WP's unholy chimaera of CSS arcana (not to mention its equally macabre PHP contortions) knows, is an undertaking that seldom leaves the rational portion of the brain intact. In a word, I hate jury-rigging home-grown WP themes, but most of those available make it look like my "blog" should be chugging macchiatos at a trendy, overpriced café while clothed in trendy, overpriced clothing and pouting smugly at...I don't know, something.

I don't even know what a macchiato is.

My point being that I'm not a self-important hipster trendwhore, and I don't want my blog web site to portray me as such: that means I have to create my own theme. (If I'm honest, it's the whole mindfreak with themes that convinced me to try my hand at rolling my own "blogging" software in the first place.)

Somehow, I knew you’d find me, Gary. As for the cat box, I’m not entirely sure what you’re talking about. Sure, I had a post where I ranted and raved about how much I hate LitterMaid, but it’s gone now.
